The online application and fee payment window for the Indian Overseas Bank Officer Recruitment 2026-27 is from August 29, 2026, to September 15, 2026.
Indian Overseas Bank has announced a total of 291 vacancies for Generalist and Specialist Officers across JMG Scale I, MMG Scale II, and MMG Scale III.
Eligibility varies by post. Generally, candidates need a Degree (Graduation) in any discipline for Generalist Officer (Scale II) or specific B.E./B.Tech/MCA/M.Sc degrees for IT/Specialist roles. Age limits range from 22-45 years depending on the post, with relaxations for reserved categories. Relevant post-qualification work experience (3-8 years) is mandatory for most positions, computed as on August 01, 2026.
The application fee is INR 175/- (inclusive of GST) for SC/ST/PWD candidates (intimation charges only) and INR 1000/- (inclusive of GST) for all other categories, including OBC and EWS.
The selection process comprises an Online Examination followed by a Personal Interview. The final merit list will be prepared based on an 80% weightage for the Online Examination and 20% weightage for the Interview. Candidates must qualify in both stages.
The pay scales are as follows: JMGS I: Rs. 48480 – 85290; MMGS II: Rs. 64820 – 93960; MMGS III: Rs. 85920 – 105280. In addition to the basic pay, officers are eligible for Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), and other perquisites as per bank rules.
Yes, there is negative marking in the Online Examination. For every wrong answer, 1/4th of the mark allotted to that question will be deducted. There is no penalty for unattempted questions.
The probation period is 6 months for Generalist Officer (Branch Management) in Scale II, 2 years for Assistant Manager (Security) in JMGS I, and 1 year for all other posts. Confirmation is subject to Officers’ Service Regulation (OSR).
Yes, candidates selected for JMGS I posts must execute a Financial Service Indemnity Bond for Rs. 2,00,000/- to serve for a minimum period of 3 years (active service). For MMGS II & III posts, the bond amount is Rs. 2,50,000/- for a minimum service period of 3 years (active service).
Selected candidates will be posted anywhere in India as per the requirements and sole discretion of the Bank. They are liable to be transferred to any of the Bank’s Branches/Offices across India from time to time.
